nibbly 2.7: organize, find and discuss your content
nibbly 2.7.0 was released on 30 October 2026. News becomes a more capable publishing tool and existing content becomes easier to find. Everything stays in files, without a database or an external search service.
Give news more structure
Posts can carry categories, tags and internal flags for selected lists. Archives show all posts, a category, a tag, a year or a decade, with pagination. Settings → Post settings controls categories, archive paths, posts per page and the URL pattern. Date-based addresses are available alongside /news/{slug}. Old slugs and incorrect date variants redirect to the canonical address.
Search and subscribe
Full-text search indexes public pages and published posts, ranking titles and excerpts above body text and showing highlighted snippets. Private pages, noindex pages and pages marked unsearchable are excluded. /feed.xml supplies recent posts via RSS, with language-specific feeds for multilingual sites. A timeline component presents posts chronologically, grouped by year or decade.
Comments with moderation
A new dashboard module manages comments and guestbook entries. Approve entries, hold them, mark spam or delete them. Moderation is on by default. Form tokens, a honeypot, an arithmetic question, rate limits and duplicate checks protect submissions without an external CAPTCHA service. Templates explicitly opt into rendering comments; enabling the module alone does not add a form.
Check before updating
2.7 is a compatible release with no data migration. Search and RSS are active by default. Custom headers can add the search form and feed link; date-based URLs also need the updated .htaccess. Search and comment options currently live in the site settings JSON rather than a dedicated settings panel. Read the technical documentation, expanded handbook and release notes for details.
